Sam Allardyce Warns Rashford: Earn Game Time At Man Utd Or Face England Axe

Published on:

rashfordMan Utd prodigy Marcus Rasford is on brink of being axed from Sam Allardyce’s Three Lions squad, which is scheduled to be announced by this week.

After the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rashford has failed to make it to the first team of Mancheser United. It is believed that the lack of game time in the new season is the reason behind his anticipated omission from  Allardyce’s squad.

Rashford earned his Manchester United debut only in February last season and had impressed with his pace and goal scoring abilities, bagging eight goals to his name within a short time span. His impressive performance at Man Utd had earned him a place in Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016 in France. Rashford had also earned huge accolades after scoring in his first International match.

While on International duty for England at Euro 2016, Rashford impressed fans with his pace down the wings during his brief appearances against Wales and Iceland. However, new boss Allardyce has accentuated this week that Rashford might be dropped from the new England squad.

Sam AllardyceSam Allardyce said: “The difficulty is Rashford’s not playing. It makes it harder for me to select him, as exciting as he was last year, bursting onto the scene.

“I could say ‘go and play for the Under 21s’ get used to international football there and that will help you eventually break into the Manchester United team and eventually the England team. I’ve got all those scenarios to consider.”

zlatanRashford has not yet played a single game for Man Utd this season as the new colossal signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already made an immediate impact by scoring three goals in his first two EPL games.

Jose Mourinho may explore the market for a potential loan move for Rashford this summer, but the recent turn of events suggest that the Portuguese coach would like to hold on to him and use him as a backup option for Zlatan.
