I’ve Discussed Courtois With Real Madrid, Says Chelsea Goalkeeper’s Agent

Thibaut Courtois’ agent accentuated that he has held meetings with the Real Madrid bosses as the Blues goalkeeper is yet to sign a new Chelsea contract and has again delayed negotiations.

The Belgian shot stopper has proved his mettle and has sealed the No.1 spot at Chelsea. He has now lifted the second Premier League title with the Blues in over the course of three seasons.

Courtois, who was on loan at Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014 has now been heavily linked with a move back to the Spanish capital but to play for the Los Blancos.

FootTheBall understands that Courtois is playing hardball with the Chelsea hierarchy because he wants to double his current wage packet of £100,000-per-week.

Sources reveal that the Belgian star wants to reach an agreement with the Blues bosses, but his representative, Christophe Henrotay, has now said that he has held talks with the Madrid bosses regarding his client’s current situation at Chelsea.

He said: “Of course Thibaut is of interest to the big clubs, including the latest Champions League winner.”

“He’s someone who helps you win games, titles. I meet regularly with those in charge at Real Madrid, and Thibaut’s case has come up. “

“My role is to keep him updated on the situation.”

Real Madrid are looking to rope in a new No.1 despite having Keylor Navas in the squad. They have now identified long-time target David de Gea, Courtois and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma as possible replacements.

Courtois played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s Premier League title triumph last season – keeping 16 clean sheets in his 36 games.
