Late drama at Craven Cottage

Liverpool’s deal for Fabio Carvalho has fallen through due to an inability to get the deal registered in time. The Reds had agreed terms with Fulham and with the player, had the medical completed but were unable to get the paperwork through in time.

It complicates matters for the parties involved as Carvalho is out of contract in the summer and Fulham were looking to get a transfer fee for the youngster and retain him until the end of the season. Summer transfer window drama coming already!

Barcelona have another striker!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed for Barcelona, completing the deal at the end of the January transfer window with Arsenal reportedly terminating his contract to facilitate the deal.

The transfer materialised entirely over the last day or so with the deal looking to have fallen through but negotiations worked out in the end. Official announcements from the clubs are awaited.

Cantwell’s a Cherry

Highly rated Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell has joined Championship side AFC Bournemouth on loan. Cantwell has been on the fringes of the Norwich side with his future in limbo with his contract running out in the summer.

The youngster has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham in the past but has decided to drop down a division to get more playing time.

The money flows at St. James’ Park

Newcastle United have signed another defender on deadline day, completing a two and a half year deal for Dan Burn from Brighton after getting Matt Targett from Aston Villa earlier in the day.

Dan Burn joins Keiran Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimares and Targett on the list of January arrivals of the newly rich club as they attempt to avoid relegation in the second half of the season.

Liverpool with another coup!

Liverpool are nearing a move for Fulham sensation Fabio Carvalho in the closing hours of the deadline day. The Reds have already added Luis Diaz to their attacking line and are looking at the future with a deal for the young striker for five years.

The 19-year old has 11 direct goal involvements in the 18 appearances in the Championship this season and will stay at Fulham for the rest of the season before moving to Liverpool in the summer. He is undergoing a medical and Liverpool face a race against time to get the deal completed this January.

The Auba saga continues

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is on the verge of a move to Barcelona according to the latest reports after being granted permission to leave by Arsenal. The Premier League club is reportedly ready to terminate his contract and let him leave on a free transfer.

The 32-year old has had a tumultuous few weeks – falling out of favour with manager Mikel Arteta before being kicked out of the Gabon squad for the AFCON and now, forcing a move on deadline day. Just the chaotic right fit for Barcelona.

Bryan’s back to Spain

Tottenham signed Bryan Gil amidst much fanfare but the move has not worked out with the  20-year old having made just 9 league appearances so far, all of them limited cameos from the bench.

With the arrivals of Kulusevski and Bentancur, Spurs have decided to loan the youngster to Valencia until the end of the season. The move makes sense for all parties involved and hopefully Gil will return to North London and prove his credentials.

The Old Lady is singing

Juventus have been one of the major news stories of the transfer window, with the departures of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur contrasted with the arrival of Dusan Vlahovic. Massimiliano Allegri has further strengthened his side with the confirmed signings of Dennis Zakaria and Federico Gatti.

Zakaria joins from Borussia Monchengladbach to replace Bentancur in midfield while Gatti joins as a highly rated centre back from Serie B club Frosinone, where he will spend the rest of the season.

Just a couple of hours after reports broke that Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s attempted move to Barcelona has broken down, club president Joan Laporta has claimed that it might still get done in time.

The Gabon striker flew himself to Spain in an attempt to manufacture a move but negotiations did not go as planned. There is still time to get this, and Ousmane Dembele’s, deal done and Barcelona are going to be plenty active until the clock strikes midnight.

No French magic for Newcastle

Newcastle United have already signed Matt Target and Bruno Guimares in the last few hours but their big money move for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike has fallen through, confirmed in an official statement by the club.

The 19-year old has been hugely impressive in the French Ligue 1 this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists in a relegation battling side. He has chosen to continue his development at Reims, and may be out of Newcastle’s reach come summer.

Another one on the road to Goodison

Donny van de Beek has become the latest major arrival at Merseyside as he signs for Everton on loan until the end of the season from Manchester United. The Toffees have been on a binge as they look to rescue their season from 16th in the league.

The Dutchman has struggled for minutes at Old Trafford since his move in summer 2020 and now has the chance to prove that he can deal with the physicality of the Premier League. He joins Dele Alli and Frank Lampard amongst the big names to join Everton on the final day of the season.
