Spurs = Struggle

Published on:

Tottenham Hotspur for all their recent managerial fire and hire policy, have struggled to get results on the pitch. Since the start of last season, 3 managers have taken charge of the North-London outfit dugout.

All of those managers had a big name reputation and had previously gotten extraordinary results with their former clubs. Jose Mourinho, Nuno Santo and now Antonio Conte, all have had varying degrees of success at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Although, consistency has always been a hindrance and the club are clearly struggling in that department.

While they have struggled on the pitch, off the pitch some of the Spurs players have a lot of fun and success. The chemistry between players, particularly when it’s about NFL, is shown in this Betway’s video with Tottenham.

Eliminated from FA Cup by Middlesbrough

Life as Spurs manager hasn’t been plain sailing for Antonio Conte. The Italian tactician took over from Nuno Santo in November 2021, after a series of poor results. The former Chelsea manager faced a struggling Championship side in the 5th round of the FA Cup, where his timid Spurs side lost 1-0.

While he could have been excused for not playing his star players, that was not the case. It was the same star-studded playing 11 that started against Leeds and hammered the Peacocks 4-0, which eventually ended up in Bielsa getting sacked.

With this dismal showing against Middlesbrough, Spurs lost their only chance of salvaging success from this season. FA Cup was their last and only chance of getting their hands on any kind of silverware this season.

Premature end in UEFA Conference League

Although Conte could have done very little in terms of luck in the Conference League, they did suffer a few shocking results under Nuno Santo. Adding to that the Covid outbreak at the club for their vital match against Rennes, Conte and the Tottenham hierarchy could have done very little about it.

When Spurs announced they could not field a squad to face the French club, UEFA decided to count the match in Rennes’ favour and hand them those 3 crucial points. This meant that Conte’s and Spurs’ journey had to end prematurely in Europe.

Race for top 4 – A tough one

Spurs currently sit 7th in the Premier League table, 5 points behind 4th placed Manchester United, whilst with 2 games in hand. With just 4 points separating 4th from 7th and 4 teams in a race for one spot, the final few months could be very exhausting for both Antonio Conte and his Spurs players.

All in all, yet another disappointing season is on the cards for the North-London outfit. If Conte somehow navigates a way through to get Champions League football at The Tottenham Hotspur stadium next season, the fans would consider the season a success, particularly after watching how things have folded out the last few seasons.
